During this wonderful summer in the mountains of Aspen, CO, I found myself on many gorgeous hikes. Because I also dabble in photography, I toted around my camera and snapped photos of the views, flowers, streams, etc. I began to feel inspired by all of the amazingly captivating colors, which led me to the creation of this line - and, to my delight, I discovered that there are many stones that replicate the extraordinary colors of nature, and voila!

After some months I have complied a line that has multiple colors, a variety of styles, and all in all "A Little Something for Everyone." "All Wrapped Up"
This line was inspired first and foremost by my recent adventure in Ireland. I found most Irish designs, especially jewelry designs, to be extremely similar to my personal jewelry aesthetic. So, I reconnected with my part Irish heritage and explored knots, wrapping, and Celtic looking pieces. This "S" pin was inspired by the "SE" that I designed previously. In contrast, this pin is flat, brushed sterling silver with only a touch of wire wrapping. It is very simple and classic with two small sapphires gypsy set into the top and botton of the "S". The delicate dots surrounding the sapphires add some flair, elegance, and uniqueness!!!

These two simple sterling silver wedding bands were made for an adorable couple that wanted to exchange matching hand crafted rings at their ceremony. The woman's ring was slightly thinner, exudeing a more feminine look. Both are made from half-round wire, have a touch of oxidation, and are brushed back, resulting in a lovely matte finish perfect for everyday wear!

It focuses on the patterns and movements of orbits, stars, and galaxies that are all connected to our earth, earth's orbit, and the grounded sensation we feel due to gravity. June Special Orders!

These earrings were a custom order to match a beautiful necklace made by Randyl. Combining the main colors of green, orange, and brown, I made a delicate pair of gold fill cluster earrings!

Another custom order, this time for a high-school graduate. The necklace is 32" long in thick sterling silver chain. There are three pendants attached, one with the word "joie" and the other two smaller ones blank (close up above, whole necklace below). The stones are attached asymetrically and consist of champagne quartz, brown topaz, and aquamarine. It ended up being perfect for the customer, a great layering piece too!!

When I have a chance outside of special orders to make some things for the store I take full advantage! That is where these sterling silver hoops came from. Inspired from another special order I completed for Coral F. that was a pair of brass hoops, I made this pair and added a touch of texture and fun with dots and oxidation!

Another bridal order complete! These again are bridesmaids gifts, how nice, a pair of matching earrings and necklace with a sterling silver ring with iolite, crystal, and freshwater pearls wrapped with gold fill wire hanging on a 16" gold fill chain; all stones to match the color theme of navy. This color theme has inspired a new small line being hand crafted at North Star for the summer!

Finally the finished engagement ring for Tom Brennan! I was thrilled with the outcome of the lovely aquamarine set into sterling silver with a touch of bead wire; I think Tom was very pleased as well! Below is another look at the ring on a person's finger.

Here are the earrings and necklace to match the ring. With custom made PMC flower pendants (by Marika) the necklace and earrings are sterling silver with a touch of apatite.

This is one of four completed bobby pins for a bridal order; these pins are to be given as bridesmaids gifts! They are hand-forged sterling silver pins wrapped with crystal, citrine, and other beautiful lemon colored stones to match the sunflowers that are the flower of choice at the wedding.

I must say it has been a busy couple of weeks!

Today Jetha finished two beautiful necklaces for the simple "Verde" line! While she was working away on more s/s circles, jump rings, and so on, I worked on Tom B's engagement ring. It's looking good and hopefully I will be able to set the aquamarine stone next time I'm in. I am waiting on two other special orders to be fully tumbled before I can finish them and that will happen in the next couple days. After that I will be on to some new projects!

"Elements of Three"

I wanted to give a little background on the intention of this line:

The "Elements of Three" line focus on the number three and it's naturally balanced quality. Each piece has either three circles, three colors, three different materials, or even multiples of three. The harmonious nature of the number three makes each piece well-rounded, balanced, and aesthetically pleasing. It also allows for asymmetry to feel comfortable and even. I subconsciously find myself creating things in threes for all of these reasons which is why I wanted to incorporate it into an entire line, consciously emphasizing its beauty and balance. I hope the connection of the number and its inherent characteristics help the wearer understand the meaning of all the pieces in this line, creating a powerful relationship and energy!

Today I trained Kira, for her first day!, on the basics of the store. We started a simple silk-cord knotting project, first a bracelet, necklace to follow, and some other simple stringing s/o's. I managed to finally finish Kris G's ring that has been haunting me, and it looks great! Success! Other than that took two new exciting s/o's that I will get to soon. Busy day!

Today was very productive! When I came in Kyla and I sorted through all of the complete special order, making a pile of really old ones, ones that were not on the log anymore, etc., and called all the customers with a reminder that their lovely orders were still here ready to be picked up. Then I completed one simple s/o for Kathy H. And with a little more time left in the day I finished two pieces for the green line (both pictured above).

Today Kyla and I worked on more s/o's!!! I finished a really basic clean up and reshaping of a ring for Wayne Dicksteen, a pair of simple earrings for Jeanne Naber, and a sterling silver cuff bracelet (stamped with "courage" on the inside, pictured above) for Georgia Magnera. Kyla and I are working together on setting a big shell/mother-of-pearl on a ring; we will finish that next week!

Today Kyla and I worked on several special orders and in all we finished about 6! I did a basic repair on a necklace for Sakae, replaced a missing disc on a pair of earrings for Adrianne, and tried to finish the repair for Kris G.'s ring - unfortunately it looks like its past soldering repair and now we most likely will be replacing the chain. Finally I finished a cute itty bitty ring (size 4.5), sterling silver with brass dots on top, for Angie! Very adorable :)

Today I continued on the simple metal line for the store. I made another pair of the same earrings I made yesterday but in sterling silver. These also have gold fill jump rings and earwires. The I made a necklace inspired by Kyla's moonscape necklace. We just got brand new teeny tiny drill bits so I experimented with them and drilled all different sized holes the the silver for the same moonscape look, over brass. Really fun!!! I think I'll make a pair of earrings like this too :)

Today I started a afew s/o's that require a few tools that we need from North, so they are on hold until tomorrow when I come in. With a little time to spare I started on a few pieces for the very simple, summery, metal line. Pictured above are the two pieces I completed; brass earrings with gold fill jump rings and ear wires and a brass and sterling silver circle necklace. Both are slightly hammered and brushed for a matte finish! More to come...

Today I managed to get some good things done. Katherine and I had to bust out quite a few intial necklaces for a customer that needed them finished ASAP. I started a s/o copper necklace, two sided, with sweet sayings on both sides. The sweat-soldering and jump ring are complete, it just needs a bath in the sulfur and to be attached to the leather necklace. Another s/o revamp in sorts I prepared all the pieces and parts for and Shannon so kindly agreed to finishing it up on Sunday. Busy afternoon I must say, lots of action in the store, especially considering I was only there for 2 hours!

Today I remade the earwires on Coral Ferguson's earrings - unfortunately one of the last ones broke. I reinvented a way to connect the ear wire to the earring it self and I think this way will be much sturdier and easy to use. Instead of soldering the sterling silver wire directly to the brass I drilled a small hole in one side and created a little loop-hinge. It is the same basic shape and fits into the clasp part exactly the same but hopefully will last forever! Other than that Kyla and I did some more s/o organization and such!

For the short time I was in today I wrapped up a bracelet for Holly Colangelo's order (the earrings to be finished at North tomorrow). After a brief conversation with Katherine about what to make next, I started cutting circles, many many circles!!! We decided that the store was in need of some new, fun, more detailed metals (earrings in particular). So I will be making earrings like the two pairs of special order earrings for Coral Ferguson. They will be big, and also some not so big, hoops that are drilled, cut, hammered, and lots of fun stuff, in both brass and sterling sivler. We shall see how they turn out...

Today was a very productive day! Kyla and I spent some time sorting through all of the special orders, clarifying issues, answering questions, etc. Once the organization was complete, yay, I went back to work on the necklace I started last week. It is a three-tiered necklace with three different gold-fill chains, mini-pearls, and rutilated quartz. When it is being worn it has an asymmetrical and very elegant look!Very bridalesque!

My new spring line: "A Drop of Color!"

This line is simple and straightforward, slightly oxidized for a more natural, earthy, and worn look, with a little splash of color to attract the eye. I find that by having only one color on a piece allows one to focus on what that color evokes, how it is related to the accompanying design and therefore its meaning as a whole. The designs are simple organic symbols (shapes inherent to me that I find appealing and that have deeper meanings) that represent both balance (often asymmetrical balance), harmony, and a sense of calm. All of the necklaces are about 16" lengths; the 9 saw-cut pendant necklaces have 1 1/2" extensions. I thoroughly enjoyed creating these fun, simple necklaces!

I finally finished! As Lindsey said, I needed a night to sleep on them...and I think they are a nice addition to our bridal line! I also had enough time to start another bridal necklace. It will be a three-layered necklace with random clusters of topaz, similar to these earrings. We will see how it turns out when I come in next time!
